First thing this morning we got the news that Kegworth Heritage Centre has been awarded Full Accreditation status by the Arts Council England.

This is a huge milestone for us and is a fantastic achievement given our small size and limited budget. And all the more amazing when you consider that this time three years ago we were closed and the future looked even bleaker than the weather. It is a testament to what an amazing group of dedicated volunteers can achieve!

April 2026 - Kegworth Primary School Visit to KHC

Last week we were absolutely delighted to welcome over thirty pupils from Kegworth Primary School for their first visit in over seven years.

There were three groups of 4-5 year olds, accompanied by members of staff, and they were an absolute delight. It was so wonderful to hear the whoops of joy when they found pictures in the treasure hunt or dinosaurs in the "archeology pits".

We hope this is the start of a blossoming new relationship with one of our nearest neighbours! If other local schools are interested in visiting please contact us!

Please note that this image has been partially AI-generated. No photographs of the children were taken at the event, so they have been added digitally for illustrative purposes

New Contact Us page is live!

We're really pleased to announce that you can now contact us directly from our website, a facility we had to remove some time ago because of spammers. But it's back and better than before.

If you have items that you're thinking about donating this is now the best way to initiate a conversation with us and send a photo of the item

Video Report from KHC Chair

On March 16th Kegworth Parish Council held its annual Community Meeting in the KPC Offices. Along with all the village community groups we were invited to submit a report and posters for the event. Our chairman created this video report which was played at the meeting.

Our Blog Page has been updated with our Spring Editorial (February 2026)

We are constantly looking for ways to improve this website, especially as the amount of content increases. The latest update is our blog page which can found here.

*** UPDATE - 23rd May 2026 *** - An early seasonal update has been published on the blog

For quite a few years you will have seen (mostly) quarterly updates from the Chairman appearing on the home page. We hope you find them useful. They are intended to serve as communication devices to our audience to let you know what's going on with KHC beyond the normal events and activities but they have a secondary purpose in creating a reference archive for the heritage centre.

Until now, these editorials have usually been copied into the news and events page but they become difficult to find and they aren't indexed anywhere, so from an archivist's perspective they aren't very helpful. This is also a time consuming activity and it's easy to make mistakes as it is a mechanical process of cutting and pasting. Because the original material is kept on the website servers, they also consume valuable space and a better solution is required to manage them.

In future the we will use this blog page to serve as the definitive archive for KHC editorials and other articles. The first few items are in place and we will bring older articles into the library over the next few months.
